As part of the SmartLivingNEXT flagship project, a system concept was developed that lays the foundation for an open, sustainable and scalable smart living ecosystem. The focus is on the SmartLivingNEXT Dataspace – a central component that serves as a secure and sovereign access point for smart living data. The system concept can be ordered via the project office.

SmartLivingNEXT flagship project Contribution

What makes the SmartLivingNEXT Dataspace special? It enables uniform and standardized access to data, regardless of its physical storage location or system origin. This not only creates transparency, but also promotes innovation through seamless data integration. The ForeSightNEXT system concept describes the SmartLivingNEXT data ecosystem and is more than just a technical blueprint – it is the key to a new era of smart living spaces(s). This is because the system concept contains the tools and standards provided by the consortium partners Materna and German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), which are now available to developers in particular.

The ForeSightNEXT system concept includes:

  • Basic AI services: These facilitate the analysis and optimization of data, e.g. for energy efficiency, and create added value through intelligent applications. They are available as basic functionality for all applications in the ecosystem.
  • Federation services: These services ensure the secure exchange and management of data in a federated environment that is compatible with Gaia-X.
  • Energy efficiency data portal: A concrete application example that shows how Dataspace can be used to make energy consumption transparent and controllable.
  • Application Lifecycle Management (ALM): Tools and processes that make the development, operation and maintenance of applications in the ecosystem efficient and sustainable.

Blueprint: A reproducible model for success

The ForeSightNEXT system concept includes a description of the Dataspace Blueprint – a reference implementation that enables developers to recreate the SmartLivingNEXT Dataspace and its services in their own projects or to use them directly. This blueprint grows dynamically as the project progresses and is continuously expanded so that it always meets the latest requirements.

This gives you the freedom to either integrate the toolboxes provided or use the infrastructure in your own environments. The modular approach and comprehensive documentation make it easy to get started and operation scalable in the long term.

The added value of the SmartLivingNEXT data ecosystem:

  1. Security and sovereignty: the data room meets the highest security standards and guarantees sovereign data control.
  2. Innovation through AI: ready-made AI services make applications smarter and future-proof.
  3. Flexibility and scalability: The Blueprint makes it possible to quickly develop and adapt your own solutions.
  4. Standardization and interoperability: Thanks to compatibility with Gaia-X, the SmartLivingNEXT infrastructure is interoperable.

The ForeSightNEXT system concept offers a comprehensive insight into how to design the next generation of smart living spaces(s). Discover how you can use the system concept to realize innovative applications while benefiting from a secure, federated and scalable framework.

Central documents for SmartLivingNEXT

The white paper contains the guideline and reference framework for the future technical development of the SmartLivingNEXT Dataspace and the desired governance structure. It was created with the collaboration of teams from German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Research Association for Electrical Engineering at ZVEI e.V., Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and Materna Information & Communications SE. You can have the white paper sent to you as a PDF. Please contact our project office at projektbuero@smartlivingnext.de.

The document is intended as a structuring investor perspective and orientation framework, not as a final business plan, and analyzes the possible roles of potential investors. It was written in collaboration with Michael Schidlack, Research Association for Electrical Engineering at ZVEI e.V., Dr. Rahild Neuburger, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and Lars Thomsen, future matters AG. You can have the document sent to you as a PDF. Please contact our project office at projektbuero@smartlivingnext.de.

Please contact our project office at projektbuero@smartlivingnext.de.
