On September 4, 2025, the Digital Technologies Forum roadshow made a stop at the futureSAX Innovation Forum II “LifeScience & Healthcare” in Leipzig. The focus was on networking companies, projects and innovation players in order to make smart living solutions for the health and care sector a practical experience. The GAiST and DuITeasy projects from the BMFTR SmartLivingNEXT technology program showed how digital innovations can sustainably improve the everyday lives of older people and care in the home environment so that they can live in their familiar surroundings for longer.

GAiST – Ageing happily with smart living technologies

GAiST demonstrated how intelligent living environments can improve the quality of life and safety of older people with the help of modern sensor technology and telemedical systems. The platform networks vital and environmental data and makes it transparent and easily available to carers, medical staff and relatives. This makes care and coordination more efficient – for greater self-determination, safety and relief in everyday life.

DuITeasy – Open assistance ecosystem for housing, care and communities

DuITeasy presented its lifelong, open assistance platform, which networks various digital services from housing, care and communal areas in an interoperable and secure data space. The use cases presented at the innovation forum ranged from heat protection using wireless temperature sensors and emergency prevention through data protection-compliant data exchange to activity detection (ADL) and smart parking space management. One central goal: users retain full control over their data while benefiting from the flexible integration of new services – for greater convenience, safety and participation in everyday life.

In the exhibition area, visitors were able to experience the demonstrators live and talk to the project teams. The great interest and lively discussions showed that the SmartLivingNEXT projects are ready for practical transfer and are setting new standards for a sustainable health and care industry.
